A Day Out in Great Malvern

If you are thinking of planning a day out. Look no further! The Malvern Hills are a great place to explore...

We’re only 7 miles from Great Malvern and just under 20 minutes in the car.

It’s easy to be overwhelmed with the possibilities of walking routes and activities in Malvern so we thought it would be handy to give you a little suggested itinerary for a day trip to Great Malvern.

You’re on holiday so no 6am wake up calls! We want you to be able to relax so why not get up, enjoy a delicious breakfast and plan to leave around 10am.

On the way into Great Malvern it’s worth stopping off at The Clock Tower, a very interesting building that was erected in 1835 to supply drinking water for the inhabitants of North Malvern working on the quarries. The Malvern Hills are famous for spring water and you can discover lots of wells and springs dotted all across the hills, some of which you can fill your bottle and drink from!

There are so many different walks to choose from but if you’re planning to see the best of Malvern we think this is a great walk and it starts in the centre of the town - North Hill Walk

If you don’t fancy navigating the hills yourself you can book onto a Guided Walk

You should be back around lunch time. There are so many independent café’s to choose from but we like to stop off at Abbey Rd Coffee just down from the Elgar statue. Within a 2 minute walk from Malvern Theatres, Great Malvern Priory and the Malvern Museum, it’s the perfect stop near some highlights of Great Malvern. They serve a good selection of hot drinks and a tasty lunchtime menu. Dog friendly too so your pooch will receive a warm welcome!

Be sure to visit the farmers market in church street which is held every second Saturday of each month and features lots of different stalls with local food & drink producers, art & crafts, jewellery, and much more. Make sure you take time to explore all the independent shops Great Malvern has to offer.

Follow the path down the hill to the famous Malvern Theatres and be sure to explore the winter gardens behind which are stunning all year round!

After a lovely day of exploring and shopping in Malvern you may want to head on back to Hoppickers for an afternoon to chill and enjoy the peaceful countryside all around.

If your keen for more why not stop off at a pub on your way home? The Nag’s Head is a great pub with a brilliant atmosphere all day long. They have a vast selection of Real Ale, local Ciders and tasty bar snacks. Or if you fancy a bite to eat you can sit in their dog friendly restaurant – serving lunch 12-2.30pm and dinner 6-8.30pm The food has always been great and you can enjoy great views across the county whilst experiencing some of the best local produce Worcestershire has to offer.

Head on home to Hoppickers knowing you have explored the heart of the Malvern Hills and plan what the next adventure will be tomorrow…
