For those classic English rainy days, The Cowshed is the perfect retreat, transformed into a superb games room packed with entertainment for all ages. Challenge friends and family to a game of Table Tennis, Darts, Scalextric, retro Pinball, or Bar Billiards. Light the wood burner, sink into the leather sofa, and enjoy a movie on the big screen. The Cowshed is the ideal spot for a cosy movie night or a lively games evening—whatever the weather! 

Fancy a friendly rally or family tournament? Our tennis court is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and soak up the countryside views across the Teme Valley. It's perfect for a relaxed game with family and friends, teaching the children to play, or simply enjoying a hit around during your stay.

Our court is an older hard surface, so while it's regularly maintained, it isn't Wimbledon standard and may have the odd patch of moss or leaves during the winter months. Racquets and tennis balls are available to borrow free of charge if you've left yours at home.

If you're looking for a more competitive match, there's a recently resurfaced public tennis court in nearby Alfrick, just a short drive away, with an excellent playing surface for keen players. Afterwards, why not pop into the neighbouring community shop for a barista coffee and one of their delicious homemade cakes? It's the perfect way to round off a morning on the court before returning to Hop Pickers to relax in the hot tub or enjoy the views across the Teme Valley.

Winding around the perimeter of the farm, our woodland trail takes you through a beautiful mix of trees, including cherry, hazelnut, walnut, and damson—feel free to pick your own when in season. Along the way you will find the wildlife hide, where you can quietly observe nature at its best, overlooking the peaceful old oast pond and an active badger sett. If you sit patiently at dusk, you may be lucky enough to spot some of our resident Brockamin badgers emerging for the evening. A short, gentle walk that’s perfect for stretching your legs and soaking up the sights and sounds of the countryside.

For a chance to observe our local wildlife up close, head to the wildlife hide at dusk and wait quietly - you may be rewarded with a glimpse of our resident Brockamin badgers emerging from their sett. If you’d prefer to watch from the warm comfort of The Cowshed, our live-feed wildlife camera offers a fantastic view straight to the TV inside. Badgers are naturally shy, but if you scatter a small handful of unsalted peanuts in front of the camera about an hour before dusk, you’ll have the best chance of spotting them. Keep an eye out for other wildlife too - our camera has also captured muntjac deer, rabbits, hares, squirrels, foxes, hawks, and owls.

We have hens, ducks, geese, dogs, and shetland ponies. We can organise an experience feeding our free range chickens, ducks and collecting eggs on request. Meet the animals experience also available on request. Guided by Rebecca, meet and learn how we look after our Shetland ponies followed by egg collecting and feeding our ducks and chickens.
