This access statement is intended to provide accurate, detailed information about the facilities and services at Hop Pickers Cabin to assist all visitors, including those with accessibility requirements. It does not include personal opinions on suitability.


Overview

The Cabin is our most accessible property for guests with limited mobility. Thoughtfully designed on a single level with easy parking directly outside. It aligns with the M1 accessibility standard, making it suitable for guests with reduced mobility who can manage a step or two but would benefit from level access and helpful features. With an open-plan layout and tranquil countryside views, it offers both practicality and peace.

Introduction

Hop Pickers Cabin is a luxury log cabin located within the grounds of Pigeon House Farm, at the end of a rural no-through road, approximately 6 miles between Worcester and Great Malvern. The owners reside on-site in the old farmhouse. The Cabin accommodates up to 4 guests in 2 bedrooms, with all accommodation situated on one level. Built in mid-2014, it was officially graded by Visit England as 4-star with a Gold Award. Nestled in a quiet corner of the old orchard, it is surrounded by spacious gardens.

Pre-Arrival

Travel & Directions: Full directions are provided with your booking confirmation. The postcode is WR6 5JX and our website offers a location plan: www.hoppickers.co.uk

Nearest Railway Station: Malvern Link – 6 miles away. Accessible taxis can be pre-booked with Access Taxis on 07749 621594

Access Road: The final 300 yards of your journey is along an unsurfaced farm track.

Supermarket Deliveries: Can be pre-arranged and unpacked for your arrival. The nearest shop is a community store in Alfrick, 2.3 miles away by car.

Bus Route: There is one bus per day from the end of Dingle Road. The walk from end of road is approx 1km. 

  • The final 300 yards of your journey are on an unsurfaced farm track before entering the main gravel driveway of Pigeon House Farm.

Key Collection, Welcome, and Car Parking

  • The Cabin is available from 4pm on the day of arrival until 10 am on the day of departure (unless otherwise agreed).
  • Please advise your approximate arrival time to ensure that you will be greeted and shown around the property.
  • The Cabin has its own gated flat gravel parking area, accommodating up to 4 cars.
  • There is external lighting on a motion sensor.

Entrance to The Cabin

  • Access into The Cabin is via a wooden ramp with a handrail.
  • The half-glazed door is 83 cm wide, hinged on the right, and opens outwards with a steel hook to hold it open if necessary.
  • There is a small step from the ramp into the cabin.
  • The door leads into an open-plan kitchen/lounge/diner, all on one level.
  • All lights can be controlled from inside this door

Kitchen

  • The kitchen is open-plan with the lounge and dining area.
  • It features a fully equipped kitchen with standard-height worktops and appliances.
  • The flooring is level throughout, with non-slip surfaces.

Bedrooms

  • The master bedroom features a king-sized bed.
  • The second bedroom offers flexibility with either two single beds or a super king configuration.
  • Both bedrooms are on the ground floor with level access.

Bathroom

  • The bathroom includes a walk-in shower with a small step.
  • Standard toilet and basin facilities are provided.
  • Non-slip flooring is present.
  • Please note that while the bathroom is accessible on one level, it is not equipped with grab rails or other built in specialist features. We can provide additional equipment like toilet seat raisers and a shower stool on request.

Laundry & Cleaning

·       Shared laundry room (behind the owners’ house) includes washing machine, dryer, and chest freezer – available on request.

·       Rotary dryer on back lawn

·       In-cottage amenities: Basic cleaning kit, airer, iron, and Dyson vacuum cleaner


Outdoor Facilities

  • The Cabin features a private hydrotherapy hot tub on the veranda, accessible via 2 steps.
  • An enclosed garden provides a secure area to enjoy.
  • The patio area is ideal for family barbecues or evening drinks.

Leisure Facilities

·       Heated Outdoor Pool: Open late May – early September (weather dependent). Time slot system in place. Guests must sign an indemnity form. Pool depth 1.5m; unfenced.

·       Tennis Court: Older surface but suitable for casual games; racquets and balls available.

·       Games Room ‘The Cowshed’:

o   Log burner, table tennis, darts, retro pinball, bar billiards, 50” Smart TV

o   Access via 5 stone steps with wooden handrail (stepping down – large step 25cm then 4 x 18cm steps) door width 70cm

o   Kitchenette and shower room (primarily used by bell tent guests)

  • Meet the Animals: Interact with geese, ducks, Shetland ponies, and chickens - feeding experiences and egg collecting available on request.

Pets

·       Dogs are welcome; enclosed garden (not escape-proof for determined dogs)

·       Complimentary dog pack included (bowl, towel, blanket, lead, toy, treats, biodegradable poo bags)

·       Dog waste bin located at main gate
