Summer Holidays at Hop Pickers: Our Favourite Days Out in Worcestershire

The school holidays are the perfect excuse to slow down, spend time together and make memories that last long after summer has finished. Whether you're planning action-packed adventures, relaxed countryside walks or simply time to switch off, Hop Pickers is the perfect base for exploring Worcestershire and beyond.

With so many fantastic attractions within an hour's drive, you can enjoy a different adventure every day before returning to the peace and quiet of the farm for an evening swim, a game of tennis or a soak in the hot tub.

Here are a few of our favourite summer days out...

West Midlands Safari Park

Just 45 minutes from Hop Pickers, West Midlands Safari Park is always one of our top recommendations for families.

Drive amongst elephants, giraffes, lions and rhinos before spending the afternoon enjoying the Adventure Theme Park. During August, the park is also hosting a K-Pop Summer event with live entertainment, alongside its usual animal encounters and rides. If you're visiting before the end of July, look out for the Kids Go Free promotion when booking online. (offer ends 31st July)

Local tip: Don't miss Lorikeet Landing – feeding the colourful lorikeets is an unforgettable experience!

Severn Valley Railway

Step back in time aboard the Severn Valley Railway and enjoy one of Britain's best preserved steam railways.

Throughout the summer holidays there are extra family events including Robin Hood and his Merry Friends, plus special weekends celebrating vintage transport and model bricks. It's a wonderful day out for children and adults alike.

Black Country Living Museum

One of our favourite recommendations if you're looking for a full day out.

Explore The Black Country Living Museum, with over 250 years of history as costumed characters bring the streets of the Black Country to life. Wander through historic shops, ride the vintage buses and trams, visit the famous Peaky Blinders filming locations and, of course, don't leave without sampling the legendary fish and chips.

Local tip: Your admission ticket is valid for 12 months, making it excellent value if you're likely to return.

Get Out on the Water

Summer is the perfect time to enjoy Worcestershire from a different perspective.

Hire a self-drive boat with Severn Expeditions or try stand-up paddleboarding with Wittering SUP near Pershore. Both offer a wonderfully relaxed way to spend a sunny afternoon on the water.

Meet the Animals

One of the joys of staying at Hop Pickers is getting to meet some of our own four-legged (and feathered!) residents. Children (and plenty of adults too) love saying hello to our friendly Shetland ponies, ducks, geese and chickens, while keeping an eye out for the local wildlife that calls Pigeon House Farm home.

There's exciting news too! This autumn we're delighted to be welcoming three gorgeous Golden Guernsey goats to Hop Pickers. We can't wait for our guests to meet the newest members of the family!

If you're looking for an even bigger animal adventure, Worcestershire and the surrounding counties have some fantastic farm parks within easy reach. Attwell Farm Park is home to more than 80 species of animals, Churchfields Farm combines animal encounters with adventure play and its famous award-winning ice cream, while Adam Henson's Cotswold Farm Park offers the chance to meet rare British breeds and discover more about life on the farm.

Whether you're making friends with our own animals or heading out to meet alpacas, pigs, cattle and more, there's no shortage of opportunities to enjoy a hands-on farm experience during your stay.

Enjoy the Great Outdoors

Some of the very best days out don't cost a penny.

Take a walk across the Malvern Hills, wander around the beautiful riverside in Worcester, or simply enjoy the peaceful countryside surrounding Hop Pickers.

Sometimes the simplest days become the most memorable.

And Don't Forget... You Don't Need to Leave Hop Pickers!

Many of our guests arrive with a long list of places they'd like to visit...

...only to discover they're perfectly happy spending a day on the farm!

Included with every stay you'll find:

  • 🏊 Heated outdoor swimming pool
  • 🎾 Full-size tennis court
  • 🎯 Unlimited access to The Cowshed games room
  • 🛁 Private hot tubs (Barn & Cabin)
  • 🌳 Open space for children to explore
  • 🐕 Dog-friendly countryside walks straight from your door
  • 🔥 Evenings under the stars with family and friends

Our much-loved Cowshed is packed with 13 classic games and activities, including table tennis, bar billiards, retro pinball, Scalextric, darts, foosball, Nintendo Wii, board games and much more. It's become a favourite space for families, rainy afternoons and a little healthy competition between generations.

Make This Summer One to Remember

Whether you're chasing adventure, introducing the children to farm life, or simply looking for a peaceful countryside escape, Hop Pickers offers the best of both worlds: fantastic attractions on the doorstep and plenty to enjoy without ever getting back in the car.

We still have selected summer availability, so if you're looking for a last-minute family getaway in the Worcestershire countryside, we'd love to welcome you. Check availability and book.
