Top 3 Walks from our doorstep

With walking becoming ever more popular as a hobby and activity, here are our Top 3 walks.

We have taken the opportunity to explore our glorious location and have a range of OS maps for your use but also several laminated, pocket-sized, local walking maps. Whether you are hiking to the hills or striding to a pub, the surrounding countryside is breath-taking with minimal roads and beautiful scenery.

Walking and cycling are popular daytime activities from Hoppickers with miles of footpaths and byways. The endless options to choose from give you chance to navigate your own route with the OS maps or app on smart phones or simply follow our handy suggested walks to make the most of the picturesque Worcestershire countryside.

Top Walk 1 – The Hayley Dingle

The Hayley Dingle walk has been a family favourite of ours for over 15 years and a traditional Christmas day walk for many locals. You will follow a farm track and might be able to spot the old railway viaduct. The railway used to bring the hop-pickers from the black country here for seasonal work every year. This is a lovely circular route which takes 40-50 minutes. Perfect fun for a four-legged friend with open fields and no roads. Hint- If Geocaching is something for you keep an eye out along here!

Top Walk 2 – The Fox and Hounds, Lulsley

We have a lovely route across country to one of our favourite pubs, The Fox and Hounds. With lots of options for different routes we have plotted our chosen way onto another handy pocket-sized page. If left wanting more you can even head further out onto the Worcestershire Way. Stop off for a cool drink in the summer or relish the cosy log fire if its chilly out. You can even enjoy a 10% discount off main meals as our guest with your very own voucher. If you’re feeling energetic make your way back by foot or maybe after a tasty lunchtime meal leave a car parked to take you back to the comfort of a warm sofa, blanket and your favourite book or film. Top Walk 3 –

New for 2022 we have a lovely walk over the Leigh Brook which takes you along to Leigh Church and the English Heritage site of Leigh Court Barn. Here you can see the outstanding display of English medieval carpentry, at the largest cruck framed structure in Britain. To discover more about this amazing historical building visit - https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/leigh-court-barn/History/. Head back along the country road and you will pass over a small stone bridge across Leigh brook which runs through the old Leigh Court railway station on the right where you can see the remains of the old station buildings which closed down on the 7th of September 1964.

So, now’s your chance! Get out there and explore the beautiful English countryside we have all around us!
