A Magical Winter Escape at Hop Pickers: Christmas Lights, Cosy Nights & Festive Days Out
There’s something truly special about visiting Worcestershire in winter. As the leaves fall and the countryside settles into its quieter season, our little farm stay transforms into a peaceful retreat full of crisp walks, warm fires, twinkling lights and festive days out. If you’re dreaming of a getaway with a touch of Christmas magic, here’s why Hop Pickers is the perfect place to press pause.
National Trust Christmas Displays
Winter is when our nearby National Trust properties really come to life. Each year, they transform their historic houses, gardens and courtyards with twinkling lights, creative festive themes and beautifully curated seasonal displays.
At Brockhampton Estate, the National Trust celebrates 600 years of Christmas with its ‘Night Before Christmas’ experience. The manor house is dressed for different eras of festive history: medieval greenery, Victorian trees and a nostalgic 1950s lounge. Families will also love the traditional Christmas games trail, offering a playful journey through centuries of celebration. (Approx 20 min drive)
At Croome Court, you can wander through their new illuminated light trail before experiencing Rapturous Delight — an immersive light and sound installation that brings Croome’s natural beauty indoors in a spectacular way. (approx 30 min drive)
Other National Trust properties include Greyfriers House and Gardens, The Firs, Hanbury Hall, Berrington Hall and Croft Castle which will also have Christmas displays and events. (All within a 1 hour drive)
Christmas Lights - A Must-See Winter Tradition
Just a short, scenic drive from Hop Pickers, is Bromyard, a very quirky market town, which puts on one of the most impressive Christmas light displays in the area. The town glows with handmade, community-created installations — from giant illuminated characters to charming street scenes that feel wonderfully nostalgic. A wander through Bromyard on a December evening is guaranteed to lift the spirits.
Worcester and Malvern also have Christmas lights and The Winter Glow in Malvern is an illuminated light trail at the Three Counties Showground
Warm Up at The Live & Let Live, Bringsty Common
On your way home from Bromyard or Brockhampton, stop by The Live and Let Live on Bringsty Common - a historic thatched pub dating back to the 17th century. It’s a favourite with walkers and a lovely place to settle in beside the open fire with a traditional drink or hearty pub meal. A perfect way to end a winter’s outing.
